Cooper's Hawk
Accipiter cooperii
Distinguishing Marks:
Sexes are similar, but female is larger. Medium-size hawk with blue-gray back and upperwings. Breast is white with rust-colored bars.
Red eyes and tail barred with black bands.
This medium sized hawk is found mainly in woodland habitats. Its diet consists mostly of small mammals.
Cedar Waxwing
Bombycilla cedrorum
Black eye crest and black chin.
Light brown crest.
Easily distinguished by the rich browns and yellows topped off with the black eye crest, the Cedar Waxwing eats mostly fruit and insects.
