White-throated Sparrow

Zonotrichia albicollis

 

Distinguishing Marks:

  • Large sparrow with dark bill.

Found in both successional to scrub, this large sparrow's diet consists mainly of seeds, fruit and insects. Found here in Winter.

 

 


 

 

 

 

Eastern Screech Owl

Otus asio

 

Distinguishing Marks:

  • Sexes are similar. Tiny owl with ears tufts and large eyes.

  • Some have rusty-colored plumage and some have gray plumage.

 

A common owl in the woodland, the Screech Owl's diet consists of small mammals, birds, insects and reptiles and amphibians.
